POLTERGEIST
HAUNTED HOUSE LISTING ON TRULIA.COM "Poltergeist" & Trulia Partnership Agency: Ludomade Role: Copywriter Fox wanted to generate viral buzz for the Poltergeist reboot. So I conceived and wrote an actual real estate listing for the haunted house from the movie. Then we partnered with Trulia and listed it without labeling it as a movie promotion. We even broke ground on Trulia, including cinemagraphs for the first time ever in a house listing's photo gallery. The seemingly normal house photos featured creepy, animated details from the movie, like the flashing TV screen. I added a clickable map that showed where haunted properties could be found throughout the U.S. |
We generated a ton of earned media, rave reviews and viral momentum for the film. Adweek called it "hauntingly perfect." AdAge made it an "Editor's Pick." Trulia blogged about it. Newsday, Bloody Disgusting & Dread Central covered it.
The listing starts off normally, but as you read on, the dream home slowly turns into a total nightmare thanks to Easter eggs and allusions to the original movie and its iconic house:
