HAUNTED HOUSE LISTING ON TRULIA.COM
"Poltergeist" & Trulia Partnership

​Fox wanted to generate viral buzz for the Poltergeist reboot.  So I conceived and wrote an actual real estate listing for the haunted house from the movie. Then we partnered with Trulia and listed it without labeling it as a movie promotion. We even broke ground on Trulia, including  cinemagraphs for the first time ever in a house listing's photo gallery.

We generated a ton of earned media, rave reviews and viral momentum for the film. Adweek called it "hauntingly perfect." AdAge made it an "Editor's Pick."  Trulia blogged about it.  Bloody Disgusting & Dread Central covered it.

The listing starts off normally, but as you read on, the dream home slowly turns into a total nightmare thanks to Easter eggs like:​
  • it was built in 1982 (year of original movie)
  • the closet is so big, it's almost like "stepping into another world"
  • house is built "on a site with a lot of history" (aka a cemetery)​
  • the seller is HIGHLY MOTIVATED
  • some "fixer-uppers can be a nightmare," but with this house, "once you step inside, you'll never leave."​
  • the # of viewers of the listing is stuck at 666
  • "See Crimes Near This Home" lists stuff like "demonic possession" and "residual haunting."​
